Academie L'Attente Pinot Noir, Willamette Valley, USA 2024

Académie’s L’Attente 2024 is a seriously exciting new Oregon Pinot Noir from a project with extraordinary Burgundy pedigree. Crafted by Thomas Savre alongside Dominique Lafon and Bertrand de Villaine, this is the cerebral side of Willamette Valley Pinot. Perfumed, savory, precise and built for the cellar. Red cherry, wild strawberry, raspberry and rose petal lead into layers of forest floor, fresh herbs, spice and subtle earth, while vibrant acidity and beautifully fine tannins give the wine tremendous energy and length. Fermented with native yeast and raised in concrete, stainless steel and 45% new French oak, it has depth without heaviness and structure without losing its elegance. Only 2,828 bottles were produced. This is exactly the kind of tiny, serious Oregon wine that Burgundy collectors should be getting their hands on early.
