Azienda Agricola Lalu Barbera d'Alba, Piedmont, Italy 2024
Azienda Agricola Lalù is a small and new winery located in the heart of Piedmont's Langhe region. The winery is owned and operated by Lara and Luisa, two friends who met at the University of Gastronomic Sciences in Pollenzo, Italy. Azienda Lalù began in 2013, when Lara and Luisa discovered about winemaking in South Africa and Argentina to come back in Italy and spend a year at Treddiberri, a winery in Langhe, to learn the craft firsthand. After establishing in 2014, the pair spent the next few years working in the Langhe and elsewhere in Burgundy such as Domaine Cecile Tremblay and with Dominique Lafon at Domaine des Comtes Lafon, where they learned the importance of terroir and the techniques of working closely with it.
Lalu Barbera d'Alba 2024 is a vibrant, fresh, and beautifully modern expression of one of Piedmont's most beloved red grapes. Made from 100% Barbera, it offers bright aromas of black cherry, blackberry, blueberry, violet, and subtle spice, with a juicy, energetic palate driven by Barbera's naturally lively acidity. The 2024 vintage emphasizes freshness and drinkability, while the wine's supple tannins and savory finish make it exceptionally versatile at the table. A delicious, food-friendly Piedmontese red that is equally enjoyable with pizza, pasta, charcuterie, grilled meats, and classic northern Italian dishes.
