Brandini Annunziata, Barolo DOCG, Italy 2021
Agricola Brandini is a relatively modern, family-run winery in La Morra, one of the most celebrated villages in the Barolo region. The estate focuses on organic viticulture, traditional winemaking, and wines that express the character of their individual vineyards rather than the influence of heavy oak. Serena and Giovanna Bagnasco are the sisters associated with running the estate.
‘Annunziata’ Barolo DOCG, Piedmont, Italy 2021
From the celebrated Annunziata cru in La Morra, Brandini’s 2021 Barolo beautifully balances Nebbiolo’s natural structure with the perfume and elegance that make this village so distinctive. Aromas of wild cherry, raspberry, rose petals, and sweet tobacco lead to subtle earthy and savory notes. The palate is concentrated yet refined, with vibrant acidity, silky but persistent tannins, and a long, graceful finish. Sourced from mid-slope vineyards, Annunziata offers a more generous, rounded expression of La Morra, retaining impressive depth without sacrificing finesse. Fermented in stainless steel and aged for approximately 24 months in large oak casks, followed by at least 18 months in bottle, it showcases the purity of Nebbiolo without excessive oak influence.
