Brandini Cerretta, Barolo DOCG, Italy 2021
Agricola Brandini is a relatively modern, family-run winery in La Morra, one of the most celebrated villages in the Barolo region. The estate focuses on organic viticulture, traditional winemaking, and wines that express the character of their individual vineyards rather than the influence of heavy oak. Serena and Giovanna Bagnasco are the sisters associated with running the estate.
‘Cerretta’ Barolo DOCG, Piedmont, Italy 2021
From the prestigious Cerretta cru in Serralunga d’Alba, Brandini’s 2021 Barolo offers a more powerful, structured expression of Nebbiolo, shaped by the vineyard’s clay-limestone soils. The nose reveals ripe cherry, wild berries, rose petals, rosemary, and freshly ground pepper, with distinctive balsamic and earthy notes. The palate is deep and precise, with vibrant acidity, assertive yet refined tannins, and a long, savory finish. Brandini combines partially whole-cluster fermentation with traditional aging in large oak casks for approximately 24 months, preserving Nebbiolo’s aromatic complexity while allowing the wine’s natural structure and terroir to shine.
