Castello di Volpaia Coltassala, Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG, Italy 2020

Produced for the first time in 1980, Coltassala is one of the three single-vineyard wines crafted by Volpaia, and it holds a special place in the winery's history. Over the years, it has evolved alongside the broader transformation of the Chianti region itself. Initially released as a table wine, Coltassala then progressed to Toscana IGT, reflecting the winery’s early efforts to showcase the unique potential of its terroir. As the quality and recognition of the wine grew, it became a Chianti Classico Riserva, highlighting its aging potential and the care taken in its production. Finally, Coltassala achieved the prestigious Gran Selezione designation, the highest level within the Chianti Classico DOCG. The Coltassala has a vivid ruby color. This is a well-structured, complex wine with an elegant nose and hints of vanilla, cacao and fruit.
