Chartreuse Jaune (Yellow Chartreuse) is a legendary French herbal liqueur produced by the Carthusian monks in the Isère region, near the Grande Chartreuse monastery. First developed in the 19th century, it is made from a secret recipe of around 130 plants, herbs, and spices, giving it remarkable depth and complexity. Unlike the more intense Green Chartreuse, the yellow version is softer, sweeter, and more aromatic, with notes of honey, saffron, citrus peel, anise, and gentle alpine herbs. At 43% ABV, it is both rich and refined, traditionally enjoyed as a digestif or used in cocktails where its spice, floral lift, and subtle sweetness can shine. Smooth, complex, and unmistakably unique, it remains one of the most iconic and mystique-driven liqueurs in the world.
