Chateau de l'Etoile, L'Etoile, Clos du Chateau Blanc 2024
Clos du Château 2024 is the crown jewel of Château de l’Étoile’s new era, and arguably the bottle to chase from the estate. It comes from a walled monopole at the very top of the L’Étoile appellation, within the historic château property. The site sits at roughly 250–300 meters, surrounded by trees and naturally cooled, giving the fruit a slower, more precise ripening.
This is 100% Chardonnay, from 60–70-year-old vines, with a complex mix of sand, clay, silt, limestone and pebbles. Louis Fourrier, the young Burgundy-trained vigneron behind the estate’s new chapter. Vinified the plots separately, using native yeast in stainless steel, followed by aging in neutral oak barrels with topping-up to preserve a fresh, non-oxidative style. The 2024 is remarkably Burgundian in its precision, but unmistakably Jura in its saline, stony character: lemon, green apple, white peach, oyster shell, flint, citrus blossom and limestone minerality. The palate is incisive and energetic, with impressive concentration but very little heaviness, finishing long, chalky and saline.
A first-vintage, walled Jura monopole from the Fourrier family. An extraordinary Chardonnay that bridges the precision of Burgundy with the saline mineral character of L’Étoile.
