The history of the chateau illustrates the ongoing relationship between the vineyard and a long line of wine growers on an exceptional terroir.
Located in the commune of Meyreuil and just four kilometres from Aix en Provence, the old bastide of the Grands Carmes d'Aix monks, now the Chateau Simone, has been in the hands of the Rougier family since 1830.

The Château Simone Rosé is a wine that belies the notion that rosés are simple wines to be drunk up young. We have indulged ourselves with 10-year old Château Simone Rosé and have marveled at the tenacity, vibrancy and complexity of this very serious wine. The blend is identical to the rouge: 45% Grenache, 30% Mourvèdre, 5% Cinsault, 20% Syrah, Castet, Manosquin, Carignan, Muscat Noir & Blanc. Aged in barrel, it is powerful and age-worthy with a steely character and a grey-tinted aura to the faded rose-petal robe.

"Once again this year, Château Simone has crafted an exceptional rosé. The 2023 Palette Rosé, made from a blend of Grenache, Mourvèdre, Cinsault, Castet, Carignan, Syrah, Manosquin and various Muscats, presents a complex and dense bouquet of red berries, spices, blood orange, grapefruit and strawberries, enhanced by ethereal menthol notes. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and round in texture, it’s sappy with a delicate phenolic mid-palate that transitions into a long, penetrating and saline finish. Ideally suited for pairing with food, this rosé can also benefit from cellaring for up to 5 to 10 years." Wine Advocate 94+
