Richebourg Grand Cru 2024

Richebourg is the pinnacle of Domaine Anne Gros. A legendary Vosne-Romanée Grand Cru that combines enormous depth with the perfume and silkiness that define the appellation. Anne Gros owns just 0.60 hectares in “Les Verroilles,”a historic parcel acquired by Louis Gustave Gros in 1882. Part of the vines are over 75 years old, with the remainder around 50 years old.

The 2024 is a powerful but exceptionally refined vintage. Expect dark cherry, red currant, raspberry, violet and rose, layered with licorice, spice, tea, menthol and subtle earthy notes. The palate is broad and concentrated, but the tannins are remarkably silky and velvety, with a strong mineral backbone that keeps the wine lifted and gives it tremendous length. Burghound scored it 92–95, calling it one of the better vintages of Anne Gros Richebourg.

Anne Gros has evolved her winemaking considerably over the years, moving away from the heavier extraction and oak of her early career toward greater purity, finesse and transparency. The Richebourg is now aged in 500-liter barrels with about 30% new oak, allowing the vineyard's character to dominate.
