Domaine Armand Rousseau Pere et Fils Gevrey-Chambertin, Cote de Nuits, France 2019
Gevrey-Chambertin 2019 is a classic and refined village-level Burgundy that clearly reflects the pedigree of this legendary domaine. The nose shows pure red cherry, raspberry, and subtle floral notes, accented by gentle spice and hints of earth. On the palate it is medium-bodied, vibrant, and beautifully balanced, with fine-grained tannins, fresh acidity, and a core of precise red fruit that carries through to a long, savory, mineral-tinged finish. Elegant yet structured, this 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin is approachable with some air but also well suited for short- to mid-term aging.
"Aromas of sweet berry fruit, wild plums, baking chocolate, spices and candied citrus rind introduce Rousseau's 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin Village, a medium-bodied, lively wine with a generous core of fruit, bright acids and powdery structuring tannins. Combining a certain sunny generosity with real vibrancy and precision, this appears to have the makings of Rousseau's finest communal bottling since 2012 or 2010, so I'm looking forward to revisiting it in bottle in a few years. As I've written before, the communal Gevrey includes fruit from premiers crus Perrières and Etournelles Saint-Jacques." Wine Advocate 92
