Domaine du Pelican Arbois Trois Cepages, Jura, France 2023
When Burgundy icon Guillaume d’Angerville blind-tasted Stéphane Tissot’s Chardonnay Arbois Les Bruyères 2005, he was so impressed that it inspired him to found Domaine du Pélican in the Jura. Working with biodynamic vineyards, d’Angerville helped usher in a new benchmark for the region. Today, Domaine du Pélican stands as one of Jura’s most sought-after producers, celebrated among a landscape of small-production, cult favorites.
Domaine du Pélican Arbois “Trois Cépages” 2023 is a biodynamically farmed red blend from the Jura, co-fermenting Pinot Noir, Trousseau, and Poulsard. The wine displays bright red berry fruit, subtle spice, and earthy undertones, with a medium body and vibrant acidity that reflect the region’s limestone-rich soils. Carefully aged in a combination of barrels and larger vessels, it captures both the finesse of the Jura terroir and the meticulous, terroir-driven approach of Domaine du Pélican.
