Domaine Fourrier Les Cherbaudes Vieilles Vignes, Gevrey-Chambertin Premier Cru, France 2024
A superb Premier Cru from Jean-Marie Fourrier, one of Gevrey-Chambertin’s most coveted producers. Les Cherbaudes sits just south of the village, near the great Grand Cru vineyards, where limestone-rich soils help produce Pinot Noir with exceptional finesse, depth and aromatic complexity. Fourrier’s old-vine fruit and restrained approach to winemaking allow the vineyard’s character to shine. The 2024 opens with fragrant aromas of wild raspberry, brambly red cherry and wilted rose petals, layered with graphite, forest floor and subtle spice. The palate is medium-bodied and beautifully textured, with supple tannins, fresh red fruit, white pepper and hints of bay leaf. Elegant yet quietly powerful, it finishes with impressive length and mineral precision. The challenging 2024 vintage yielded less wine, but the result is a compelling expression of freshness and finesse.
