Domaine Jamet Condrieu 'Vernillon', Rhone, France 2024
This is 100% Viognier, from two granite-soil lieux-dits, Vernon and Côte Châtillon, whose names are combined to form “Vernillon.” Loïc Jamet has been responsible for the Condrieu since 2015, working alongside his father Jean-Paul. The wine is known for combining Viognier’s natural richness and perfume with a notably fresh, mineral, precise style. Expect apricot, white peach, citrus, white flowers, ginger and a saline, mineral finish.
"The 2024 Condrieu Vernillon reveals a floral, seductive and distinctive bouquet of apricot, Anjou pear and white peach. Ninety-five percent of the wine matured in sandstone jars. Medium- to full-bodied, fleshy and enveloping, it is layered with a generous core of fruit and concludes with a long, perfumed finish. Slightly reduced and powerful at this stage, it should age gracefully." Wine Advocate 94
