Domaine Jamet Cote Rotie La Landonne, Rhone, France 2023
Côte-Rôtie La Landonne 2023 is one of Jamet’s rarest and most coveted single-vineyard wines. It comes from just 0.26 hectares of Syrah planted in 1987 on the iron-rich schist soils of the legendary La Landonne lieu-dit. It is 100% Syrah, fermented with 100% whole clusters and aged for around 24 months in older demi-muids, allowing the vineyard’s character to shine without heavy oak influence.
"The 2023 Côte-Rôtie La Landonne was matured without new oak. It reveals a deep and precise bouquet of blueberry and ripe dark berries, complemented by delicate floral nuances. Medium- to full-bodied, racy and finely structured, it is layered with a crystalline, enveloping core of fruit framed by beautifully chiseled, fine-grained tannins. Precise and elegant, it exudes the essence of La Landonne and of Côte-Rôtie itself, combining contained power with remarkable refinement. The finish is long and mineral, marked by subtle notes of fresh licorice. This is a very Jamet expression of this site that promises to be a landmark wine and one of the superb wines of the vintage in the making." Wine Advocate 99
