Domaine Jamet Cote Rotie, Rhone, France 2023
Côte-Rôtie 2023 is the estate’s classic Côte-Rôtie, a blend of 16 different lieux-dits across the appellation, including Côte Brune, Côte Blonde, La Landonne, Côte Rozier and Tartaras. It is 100% Syrah, traditionally made with significant whole-cluster fermentation and aged in French oak. The 2023 is a particularly impressive vintage: deeply aromatic and savory, with black cherry, red plum, violet, rose petal, pepper, olive, graphite, roasted herbs and subtle game. The palate is concentrated yet remarkably silky, with vibrant acidity, refined tannins and tremendous length.
"Tasted as a final blend, the 2023 Côte Rôtie is all Syrah that was not destemmed and is resting in a mix of used barrels, Burgundy barrels, and demi-muids. Riper than the 2024, with a sexy opulence in its red, blue, and black fruits as well as roasted herbs, graphite, and peppery, gamey nuances, it's medium to full-bodied and delivers a pure, layered mouthfeel, plenty of tannins, and a great finish. This ripe, pure, layered beauty has a slightly more sun-kissed style compared to the 2024 and will have 20-25 years of prime drinking." Jeb Dunnuck 96
