Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru “Dent de Chien” 2024
Dent de Chien is one of the rarest and most interesting wines in the Morey-Coffinet lineup. The domaine has just 0.08 hectares, planted in 1973, in a tiny parcel high on the slope immediately adjacent to the Grand Crus. The site is southwest-facing with extremely calcareous clay soils, giving the wine an unusually mineral, vertical character.
The 2024 is 100% Chardonnay, with the kind of combination that makes this climat special: white flowers, citrus, stone fruit, wet rock, chalk and saline minerality. The palate is focused and energetic, with impressive density but a very fine, almost crystalline finish. La Revue du Vin de France rated the 2024 97/100, describing it as vivid, finely etched and beautifully balanced, with a salinity and intensity approaching Grand Cru territory.
Morey-Coffinet farms organically, with horse plowing on this tiny parcel. The wine spends 14–16 months in 228- and 350-liter oak barrels, about 50% new oak, and is bottled without filtration.
