Domaine Morey-Coffinet En Remilly, Chassagne-Montrachet Premier Cru, France 2024
Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru “En Remilly” 2024
A standout white from Thibault Morey, from a tiny 0.35-hectare parcel planted in 1954. The southwest-facing site sits on very calcareous clay-limestone soils at the northern edge of Chassagne, continuing directly from the Grand Cru hillside of Puligny-Montrachet.
The 2024 is precise, taut and intensely mineral, showing lemon zest, grapefruit, green apple, white flowers, fresh peach, flint and hazelnut, with excellent acidity and a long, saline, chalky finish. It is aged 14–16 months in 350-liter barrels, with roughly 30–50% new oak. Critics have been very enthusiastic, with Burghound at 94 and Jasper Morris at 92–95.
