Domaine Morey-Coffinet Les Combettes, Puligny-Montrachet Premier Cru, France 2024
Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru “Les Combettes” 2024
Les Combettes is a particularly exciting wine in the Morey-Coffinet lineup, and notably, the 2024 is the final vintage of this cuvée. The domaine’s parcel is only 0.19 hectares, with vines planted in 1997, in the southern part of Puligny right on the border with Meursault-Charmes. The site’s deep, stony clay-limestone soils give the wine a wonderful combination of breadth and mineral precision. The 2024 shows pear, white peach, citrus, floral notes, hazelnut and subtle spice, with a silky, generous palate balanced by bright acidity and a long, saline finish. Thibault Morey farms organically, hand-harvests, and uses native-yeast fermentation. The wine is raised for roughly 15-18 months in 228- and 350-liter barrels, with approximately 15-40% new oak, depending on the source.
