Guigal’s Saint-Joseph Lieu Dit Rouge comes from the “Saint-Joseph” vineyard that gave the appellation its name. This site convinced the Guigals to work in Saint-Joseph and help to restore its historic perception as an appellation of utmost quality. This 100% Syrah wine has complex and deep black fruit, floral, spice and mineral characteristics. Despite its concentration and powerful attack, the wine retains the trademark elegance that Saint-Joseph offers. Pure and intense aromas of black fruit with delicate notes of oak lead into a fresh, powerful attack. This wine becomes more refined with age.

"The 2022 Saint Joseph Lieu-Dit is killer stuff, offering up violets intermixed with red, blue, and black fruits, game, and spice. Made from 100% Syrah and aged 24 months in 50% new French oak, it's full-bodied and beautifully textured on the palate, with silky tannins and integrated oak." Jeb Dunnuck 95

First it’s dark as a cellar door. Give it a swirl, and the nose doesn't politely ask for your attention; it demands it. You get a blast of crushed blackberries, bitter dark chocolate, cracked black pepper, and that distinct, primal funk of cured meat and crushed stone. On the palate, it’s lush and deep, but don't let the fruit fool you—there’s a rigid backbone of granitic tension and muscular, velvety tannins underneath all that flesh. It finishes long, savory, and slightly smoky, leaving behind a lingering taste of wild thyme and dark iron.

Second, buy it.
