Domaine Gilbert Picq, located in the quiet village of Chichée just southeast of Chablis, is a benchmark producer of classically styled, mineral-driven Chablis. Farmed by the Picq family for generations and now run by Gilbert’s three children, the domaine emphasizes meticulous viticulture, low yields, and spontaneous fermentations raised entirely in stainless steel to preserve purity and terroir expression. Even the village-level wines show remarkable depth and structure, often rivaling premier cru quality, while remaining exceptional values with strong aging potential. The estate’s premier crus, Vaucoupin and Vosgros, further highlight the precision and longevity of Picq’s wines, with Vosgros standing out as the most powerful and long-lived.

Winemaker Notes:  One can tell this is Chablis immediately, and grown on good terroir at that. Didier says the soil in these parcels is high quality chalk and always gives a focused, mineral wine. Absolutely classic and such good value. Glowing pale yellow, fine crisp ripe lemon, this may be high octane on analysis, but it doesn’t show to taste, especially given the wonderful fresh finish, really incisive despite the ripe fruit, not heavy.
