Jean-Philippe Agisson Pouilly Fume La Belle Endormie, Loire, France 2023
Jean-Philippe Agisson knows Sauvignon Blanc. For ten years, he crafted superb wines as the cellar master for Alphonse Mellot at the iconic Domaine de la Moussière in Sancerre, producer of some of the greatest Sancerre of the past 50 years. In 2018 he was then brought in by Louis-Benjamin Dagueneau of famed Domaine Didier Dagueneau to become his cellar master, where he continues to work today.
“La Belle Endormie” Pouilly-Fumé is a finely tuned, artisanal expression of Sauvignon Blanc from one of the Loire’s most precise small producers. Sourced from a tiny, organically farmed parcel in Pouilly-Fumé, this wine reflects the appellation’s classic flinty soils and delivers a highly focused, mineral-driven profile. The 2023 vintage is particularly elegant and pure, showing aromas of lemon zest, white peach, chamomile, and subtle smoky gunflint. With air, more layered notes of citrus oil, gooseberry, and crushed stone emerge, underscoring its Loire signature.
