Jean-Philippe Agisson Sancerre L'Eclat, Loire, France 2023
Jean-Philippe Agisson knows Sauvignon Blanc. For ten years, he crafted superb wines as the cellar master for Alphonse Mellot at the iconic Domaine de la Moussière in Sancerre, producer of some of the greatest Sancerre of the past 50 years. In 2018 he was then brought in by Louis-Benjamin Dagueneau of famed Domaine Didier Dagueneau to become his cellar master, where he continues to work today.
“L’Éclat” Sancerre is a striking, single-parcel expression of Sauvignon Blanc that showcases both precision winemaking and the distinctive energy of silex-rich Loire terroir. Sourced from a rare flint (silex) site in Saint-Satur, this cuvée lives up to its name “L’Éclat” with a bright, electric profile and finely etched minerality. The nose is vivid and lifted, offering lemon zest, grapefruit, white peach, and subtle floral tones, layered with classic gunflint smoke and crushed stone. With air, hints of exotic citrus, pear skin, and fresh herbs emerge, adding depth and complexity.
This is a highly limited, artisanal Sancerre that sits firmly in the serious, terroir-driven category—ideal for buyers seeking distinctive Loire Sauvignon Blanc with both immediacy and short- to mid-term aging potential.
