Keller 'Talfels' Chardonnay, Rheinhessen, Germany 2023
“Talfels” Chardonnay 2023 is a precise, mineral-driven expression from Rheinhessen’s limestone soils, crafted in a refined, Burgundian-inspired style. Taut and energetic, it delivers notes of lemon zest, green apple, and white peach layered with flinty reduction and a distinct chalky backbone. Sleek acidity and a long, focused finish give it real tension and depth, making this a serious, site-expressive Chardonnay built for both the table and the cellar.
"The 2023 Chardonnay Talfels used to be called Alte Reben Reserve. It was harvested on the limestone of the Zellertal, from younger vines of high-density plantings plus the older Chardonnay parcel in the Frauenberg. It spent 12 months in barrique, with around 15% of new barrels and another half yearn stainless steel. The nose is sunny with lemon, cream and wheat bran aromas. The palate is fine, flowing, graceful and beautifully chalky. Freshness shines and brightensor just the palate but the entire mind one-dry)." Vinous 94
