The nose doesn't give it all up. Gouges doesn't do cheap parlor tricks. But give it five minutes to breathe, let it warm up in the glass, and it hits you: wild black cherries, damp forest floor, blood orange peel, and that faint, intoxicating smell of crushed limestone after a summer rain.
