Massaya Gold Reserve Rouge, Bekaa Valley, Lebanon 2009
Massaya, a premier Lebanese winery, is renowned for its exceptional Lebanese wine and Arak, produced in the picturesque regions of Faqra and Bekaa, Lebanon. Founded by brothers Sami and Ramzi Ghosn, the name Massaya is the Lebanese Arabic word for "twilight".
The 2009 Massaya Gold Reserve Rouge is a full-bodied Lebanese red wine from the Bekaa Valley, primarily a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (50%), Mourvèdre (40%), and Syrah (10%). It is known for its rich, powerful character with notes of dark fruit, oak, and spice, and was built for aging. Critics noted it was tightly wound upon release and needed time to absorb its oak, recommending it be aged, with some sources suggesting it was drinking well in the years after its release.
