Pascal Cotat Chavignol Rose, Loire, Vin de France 2024
Chavignol Rosé 2024 is a rare and intriguing rosé bottling from Chavignol in the Loire Valley, made from 100 % Pinot Noir grown on a tiny parcel of old vines and vinified with great care. Produced as a Vin de France rather than under the Sancerre AOC, it comes from grapes harvested at full maturity and is vinified using indigenous yeasts, direct pressing, and aging in large, very old demi‑muids, then bottled unfined and unfiltered to preserve depth and texture. The wine typically shows vivid aromas of red berries and fruit, with mineral and saline undertones that reflect the limestone soils of Chavignol, and on the palate it balances juicy fruit, fresh acidity, and a rich yet elegant structure uncommon for rosé, giving both immediate drinking pleasure and the potential to evolve over a few years.
