Paul Jaboulet Hermitage La Chapelle, Rhone, France 2019
Hermitage La Chapelle 2019 is a monumental red from one of the Northern Rhône’s most legendary vineyards and a benchmark for Syrah excellence. This iconic Hermitage displays profound depth and intensity with layers of black and blue fruits, smoked game, spice, crushed stone and savory complexity that unfold beautifully on the palate. Full-bodied yet impeccably structured, the wine’s polished tannins and remarkable length make it a superb choice for long-term cellaring, while its pure fruit and balance offer compelling presence now with decanting. A true collector’s bottle and a standout example of Hermitage’s power and pedigree, the 2019 La Chapelle is perfect for celebrating milestone events or elevating any serious wine program.
"Last year, I giddily speculated whether the 2019 Hermitage La Chapelle would warrant a 100-point score. While close—and I wouldn't completely discount it reaching that pinnacle in another decade or two—I'm not sure this wine is as good as I thought. It boasts exciting aromas of roasted meat, mocha, crushed stone, plum and cassis on the nose. It's full-bodied, concentrated, richly tannic and velvety in texture. It's long and complex on the finish, adding hints of cracked pepper and salted licorice. And yet, as much as I enjoyed tasting it and as undeniably great it is, angels didn't sing from the heavens. Maybe next bottle." Wine Advocate 98+
