A compelling new-generation grower Champagne from Pauline Collin Bérêche, whose wines showcase the character of her family’s old-vine parcels in Ludes, on the Montagne de Reims. Drawn from just two hectares of organically tended vines rooted in clay and flint, the 2020 is a beautifully textured blend of 70% Pinot Noir, 25% Chardonnay and 5% Petit Meslier. The Pinot Noir brings depth and generous red-fruit character, while Chardonnay adds freshness and Petit Meslier contributes a distinctive lift of white pepper, herbs and chalky minerality. Native fermentation in barrels and an extended 48 months on the lees build complexity and a refined, creamy texture, balanced by vibrant acidity and a long, saline finish. With its tiny production, bone dry profile and impressive critical recognition, this is a Champagne for collectors seeking individuality, terroir and the next generation of great grower producers.

"The 2020 Extra Brut Ludes Vieilles Vignes is a fabulous follow up to the 2019. A blend of 70% Pinot Noir, 25% Chardonnay and 5% Petit Meslier, the 2020 is sourced from selection of just two hectares of old vines. This opens beautifully on the palate with gorgeous textural presence from the Pinot Noir. White pepper, mint and chalk overtones from the Petit Meslier lift the long, vibrant finish. The 2020 is still recovering from its recent disgorgement about a month before this tasting, but it is incredibly promising. Dosage is 3 grams per liter. Disgorged: February 2026." Vinous 94+
