Peter Lauer’s Ayler Kupp Unterstenberg “Unterstenbersch” Fass 12 Riesling comes from a prized, steeply sloped parcel of the Ayler Kupp in the Saar, known for its blue slate soils and cool microclimate. Fermented in traditional old fuder, the wine emphasizes purity and site expression, offering aromas of lime zest, green apple, white peach, and crushed slate. The palate is taut and precise, driven by bright acidity and a finely balanced touch of residual sugar, with a long, mineral finish. Elegant and intensely focused, it is a classic example of Saar Riesling with excellent aging potential.
