Peter Michael 'Le Caprice' Pinot Noir, Sonoma Coast, USA 2024
‘Le Caprice’ Pinot Noir 2024, Fort Ross–Seaview, Sonoma Coast
A beautifully expressive, small-production Pinot Noir from Peter Michael’s dramatic Seaview Estate, where steep coastal slopes and Pacific influences create wines of remarkable perfume and precision. The 2024 vintage was naturally fermented with native yeast and aged for 16 months in French oak barrels, 50% new, before being bottled unfined and unfiltered in February 2026. Le Caprice is the most fruit-forward of the estate’s three Pinot Noirs, emphasizing vibrant red fruit, perfume and polished tannins.
"The 2024 Pinot Noir Le Caprice comes from coastal vineyards, and the nose reflects some of the steepest blocks out there, with notes of brambly earth, compact wild spice, pine oils, and wild compact berries. From an east-facing vineyard surrounded by redwood trees, it pours a bright red color and is medium-bodied, with fine tannins and wild raspberry fruit on the palate. It initially reveals a clean fruitiness, but sneaky savory undertones gain depth and refined complexity as it sits on the palate, and it has a long finish. Drink over the coming 15 years."
