This is one of Realm’s flagship wines and a spectacular expression of the legendary Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard in Oakville. Realm has worked with To Kalon fruit since 2002, sourcing from several blocks planted primarily to Cabernet Sauvignon Clones 4 and 337. The 2023 is 99% Cabernet Sauvignon and 1% Cabernet Franc. It’s classic To Kalon—cassis, blackberry, violet, menthol, licorice, Chinese five-spice, dusty earth and iron—with enormous concentration but unusually polished, velvety tannins and vibrant freshness. Vinous gave it 98 points, calling it a “monumental To Kalon,” while Lisa Perrotti-Brown awarded it 100 points.
