Scherrer Winery Platt Vineyard Pinot Noir, Sonoma Coast, USA 2013
Platt Vineyard Pinot Noir 2013 (Sonoma Coast) is one of Fred Scherrer’s most refined and age-worthy single-vineyard Pinot Noirs, showing his signature restrained, old-school California style. Sourced from the cool, windswept Platt Vineyard on the Sonoma Coast, the 2013 vintage delivers lifted aromatics of red cherry, cranberry, rose petal, and orange peel, layered with deeper tones of black tea, forest floor, and subtle spice. The palate is silky but structured, with fine tannins, bright acidity, and a mineral edge that reflects the vineyard’s coastal influence. Unlike richer Sonoma Pinot styles, this is all about finesse, transparency, and balance rather than weight or sweetness. Aged in barrel for extended time and bottled without fining or filtration, it has developed added complexity while retaining freshness and energy.
