Sentium, Mendocino, USA 2023

The culture, spirit and pursuit of excellence in winegrowing were woven into the fabric of our upbringing. Sentium is created in this spirit by the fourth generation of our Mondavi family, banding together to create something uniquely expressive of our shared love. A wine honoring our history with Fume Blanc, of three generations before, of a white wine from California that could stand in the company of the great wines of the world.

While it was our great grandparents Cesare and Rosa that brought us to wine, Sentium is born of the efforts and experience with Sauvignon Blanc of our grandparents, Robert and Marjorie. “Fumé Blanc” was one of the very first wines made at Robert Mondavi Winery in 1966 – a unique name created by Robert and Marjorie to differentiate it from the sweet white wines that were in fashion at that time. The name Fumé Blanc signaled that it was a dry, crisp, domestic Sauvignon Blanc, and gives a nod to the Pouilly Fumé region of the Loire from which the style was inspired.

"I loved the 2023 Sauvignon Blanc, a vibrant white offering ample Meyer lemon, honeyed flowers, and crushed stone-driven aromatics, as well as a crisp, clean sense of reduction.
