Sphaerics 'Overline' Chardonnay, Carneros, USA 2023

"We are dedicated to crafting world-class Chardonnay from sites of distinction in California. Careful vineyard selection, meticulous attention to detail, and adherence to traditional winemaking practices are the pillars of our winemaking philosophy. The results of this process are wines that emanate energy and substance. We seek to produce wines that simultaneously pique one’s intellectual side while providing ultimate pleasure to the senses. We are a husband-and-wife team of wine industry veterans, Brian Ball and Laura Jones. The wines are made by Laura, who fine-tuned her Chardonnay and Pinot Noir winemaking skills during a 5-year tenure at Aubert and a stint at Domaine Armand Rousseau. Brian manages the business and sales for Sphaerics. "

"Overline" Chardonnay - Our coolest site thrives in the clay loam soils of this distinctive region, influenced by the morning fog and gentle breezes of the San Pablo Bay. The unique climate combined with some of our favorite clonal selections yields complex wines of depth and verve.

" The 2023 Chardonnay Overline boasts a bright yellow color, and the nose delivers fantastic energy in its notes of bright flinty lift, lime zest, fresh citrus blossoms, and green apples. A blend of Chardonnay clones of Wente, Hyde, and Mt. Eden from three different parcels in Carneros, the palate offers crystalline purity with refreshing acidity, and its ripe citrus and fresh green apple fruit shines all the way through.
