Theo Dancer Aragon Grenache, Vin de France 2024
Aragón Grenache 2024 is a fascinating, small-production Vin de France that shows the young Burgundy winemaker’s talent well beyond Chardonnay. Théo sources 40+-year-old Grenache from an organically farmed vineyard in Sainte-Cécile-les-Vignes in the southern Rhône, near Cairanne, where rounded galets roulés, clay, and limestone give the wine a distinctive Mediterranean character.
What makes it special is the Burgundian lens Théo brings to Grenache: the 2024 was harvested in whole clusters, fermented naturally with native yeast, then aged for 12 months in older 228L barrels and approximately 40% in 650L ceramic vessels. It was bottled without fining or filtration.
The result is bright, fragrant, and surprisingly elegant rather than heavy, with fresh strawberry, ripe red cherry, raspberry, Provençal herbs, spice, and a subtle earthy character. The palate is fluid and energetic, with silky tannins and excellent freshness.
