It is a pure Merlot that owes its name to a small stream that flows near the property. When in 1994 Rita and Virgilio set aside two barrels of Merlot from production, they perhaps did not think they had created what would become an international cult wine.

When, in 1984, Rita and Virgilio decided to purchase what would become Tua Rita,
those lands and buildings were meant to be merely the setting for a place where
they could live in harmony with nature, cultivating their own land. But the
irresistible drive of their passion for wine decidedly changed everything...
From those vines planted in 1988, in the heart of the estate on a slight slope, an exceptional fruit was born. Their location, soil composition and microclimate in their combination had given birth to this unique wine.
"The Tua Rita 2021 Redigaffi is a wine of thick character and dark extraction. This 100% expression of Merlot offers tension and extreme balance with very generous layers of dark cherry, plum, dried blackberry, spice and tobacco. It displays a spectacularly soft and velvety texture over a full-bodied approach. Redigaffi is often monolithic and monotone in its younger years, and it needs more bottle age to come into focus.
