Walter Scott 'Hyland Vineyard' Chardonnay, McMinnville, USA 2024
One of Oregon’s most compelling single-vineyard Chardonnays, crafted by Ken Pahlow and Erica Landon of Walter Scott Wines. Sourced from a historic block of own-rooted Chardonnay planted in 1979 at Hyland Vineyard, this wine captures the remarkable tension between Oregon’s cool-climate freshness and the depth of old-vine fruit. The 2024 vintage opens with Meyer lemon, green apple and fresh lime, unfolding into ripe melon, grilled peach, toasted brioche and wet-stone minerality. Concentrated and beautifully textured, it balances richness with vibrant acidity, savory complexity and a long, saline finish. Fermented and aged in French oak, with 35% new barrels, this is a serious, age worthy Chardonnay that delivers Burgundy like precision while expressing the unmistakable character of Oregon.
