Waris-Larmandier Les Regards d'Avize Vintage, Champagne, France 2018

“Les Regards d’Avize” 2018 is a tiny-production Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs from a single lieu-dit in Avize, made from 100% Chardonnay. The parcel was planted in 1963, and the wine is fermented in wood and aged on its lees for at least five years before being disgorged without dosage. Only about 536 bottles were produced.

The 2018 combines ripe citrus, lemon zest, dried fruit, almond, brioche and chalky minerality, with a fine mousse and a long, saline finish. It has the richness of the warm 2018 vintage but remains remarkably focused and mineral thanks to Avize’s chalk.
